2007.04.25 | amsterdam == sorted

so i went to the port lotniczy im. fryderyka chopina (frédéric chopin airport) [en|pl|wiki] on monday to try and organise some cheap tickets to amsterdam. but in the end, it turned out that ordering tickets on the internet was the cheapest way to travel. after finding out that klm had the cheapest tickets to amsterdam (surprise, surprise) i set about ordering them with my grandad's card. each time i tried to order the tickets i got a error saying i should phone the back about the card. it wasn't till tuesday morning that i realised that his card is actually a debit card and not a credit card and klm does not accept debit cards. it's funny that the card has written on it "for electronic use only" in big white letters, yet you can't use it to buy something of the internet. so in the end, i ordered the tickets online and payed in cash at one of their offices in town.

so now i am booked and ready for my trip to amsterdam in may. for those of you that don't know; gareth and i will be travelling to the netherlands to see armin van buuren live at his "a state of trance episode 300" party on the 17th of may. we will be staying at his friend's house in the hague and will travel to den bosch on the day of the party. the actual location of the party is on an amazing star shaped field called the pettelaarse schans. it's going to be awesome. but more on that next month.

while i was at the airport i went and took some photos, which you can find at the bottom of this post. the airport is currently being expanded so parts of it look like a mess, while the rest looks like something horrid from the past. the new section is said to triple the current capacity of the airport (ok, no more boring stuff). the nice thing about the old section is the observation deck. once you get past the rather tight security, and the ticket counter (that's right, you need to pay to get on the observation deck) you can see the whole airport without being behind a wall of glass. it's completely open air which i think is quite nice.
